Getting a new pet sitter? Read This.

What do you do when your Pet sitter says I quit?

Your pet sitter has decided to close their business and move to Miami. What do you do? Talk to your boss; take a few days off to find a new one?

No, it is total Panic time. Your pet sitter was the best, and your fluffy friend adored them. They were part of the family. Eeekk!

Here are a few suggestions to get started:

  1. Call your friends with pets and ask if they have a pet sitter. Get recommendations.
  2. Check out the internet for suggestions.
  3. Drive around town to find drop-off pet daycares.
  4. Visit those places and if allowed, take your pet with you. (if they don’t allow pet visits, I would be a bit leery.)
  5. Interview people who say they are “pet sitters”. (Resume and References, a must)

How did your pet react to the new person you are interviewing? Your pet is a great judge of character, watch them carefully.

The thought of leaving your pet with someone new, that you barely know is scary. Do you have a camera in your home? If you do not, get one!  Check it out several times a day. When you look at it and you don’t see anything unusual, relax a little bit.  The day will  end and you can rush home to your companion.

Did they seem glad to see you and otherwise are their normal crazy selves, then you might just have a winner. Remember that it will take some adjustment time. Good LUCK!
